John A. Sawchuk, DDS
Dr. John Sawchuk has been practicing in the Towson-Lutherville area for more than twenty years. He graduated Magna Cum Laude from the University of Maryland, Baltimore College of Dental Surgery in Baltimore, Maryland.

He had additional training with the prestigious general practice residency program at the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Baltimore. He has attained Fellowship status from the Academy of General Dentistry (AGD), which is the second largest dental organization in North America.  The AGD is a an organization composed of general practitioners who share a sincere appreciation for the value of continuing dental education. Dr. Sawchuk takes numerous courses every year to improve his skills, and to learn about the latest procedures, materials and dental technology.

In addition to Dr. Sawchuk's private practice in Lutherville, he has been involved in numerous other dental activities.

Dr. Sawchuk participates in the "Donated Dental Services" program sponsored by the National Foundation of Dentistry for the Handicapped. In this program, many dentists are donating comprehensive dental care to people who cannot afford needed treatment because of serious disabilities or impaired health. These patients have all of their dental work done free of charge regardless of the extent of their treatment plan. Over the span of twenty years, he has seen and treated dozens of these patients without any compensation.

Dr. Sawchuk has also been providing dental care to the residents of several nearby nursing homes and assisted living facilities for many years.

For the past few years, Dr. Sawchuk has been working for the Mobile Dentists and Smile Maryland program which is an in-school dental prevention program. The mission is to increase the quality of life for children by providing preventative dental services including dental exams, x-rays, cleanings, fluoride treatments, sealants, fillings, education and referrals. Many of the children in this program are disadvantaged. Dr. Sawchuk enjoys the opportunity of working with these children and "giving back to the community."

He has also participated in numerous oral cancer screenings at senior citizen events over the years, numerous health fairs, and has volunteered at Special Olympics activities with dental examinations and screenings.

Dr. Sawchuk enjoys being an active volunteer in community and church affairs. His hobbies include family activities, camping, biking, classical music and piano playing.
